On May 14, 2002, The Sikh Coalition honored champions of
tolerance and respect within government, the media and NGO
community at its first annual awards banquet hosted by Sikh
American Association in Washington DC.
Senator Richard Durbin, Congressmen Mike Honda and Christopher
Shays and James Zogby of Arab American Institute delivered
Keynote addresses. The Sikh Coalition presented awards in
six categories.

RETREAT FROM JUNE 13 TO 16
The theme of this summer's retreat is built around Internal
and External Challenges facing the Sikh Panth. There will
be a number of informative, yet fun, interactive and discussion-oriented
workshops including morning and evening divaans. You are
encouraged to bring your skills and share them with others.
The retreat will take place at Lohgarh Campsite in Chambersburg,
PA from June 13th (9PM) to June 16th (2PM), 2002. Individuals

CHICAGO EVENT: RALLY AGAINST INJUSTICE
IN INDIA ON JUNE 8
The interfaith rally, sponsored by the Sikh Religious Society
of Chicago, will be held on June 8, 2002 at Grant Park in
downtown Chicago. This rally will commemorate all innocent
people who have suffered injustice in India. The rally will
feature speakers from the Sikh, Muslim, Christian, and Dalit
communities, followed by a reading of testimonies and a
prayer vigil. The program will conclude with an interfaith
prayer and a community meal. For more information please
