On Vaisakhi Day 2008, the Sikh Coalition released, "Making Our Voices Heard: A Civil Rights Agenda for New York City Sikhs."

The report is the product of a survey of over 1,000 Sikhs in New York City on their civil rights concerns.  The report points out the gaps between the promise of the law and the Sikh community's reality.  It then puts forth a civil rights agenda for the community.
