2005 Sikh Coalition Internship Program

The Sikh Coalition invites applications for its summer internship program. The program offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience in one of three areas: legal, community organizing or marketing and operations. Work will be performed at the Sikh Coalition’s New York City office. Interns will develop their skills in a supportive environment from which the Coalition works to further the cause of justice for all.

Last year, Sikh Coalition interns:

• Organized a press conference to announce the end of the New York Police Department’s ‘no turbans’ policy
• Drafted legal briefs and memoranda in support of litigation against the New York Police Department and the Metropolitan Transit Authority
• Walked the halls of US Congress in support of Sikh school children in France
• Assisted in developing a community response to a vicious hate crime in Richmond Hill, NY

Applications are due by April 15, 2005.
