Racial Profiling Survey - Your Input Required

Your Experiences and Stories are Needed to End Racial Profiling

Since 9/11, Sikhs have been affected by policies and practices resulting in racial and religious profiling. Examples include additional screening of travelers at airports, intrusive questioning and searches by immigration authorities upon return from trips abroad, surveillance and interrogation by the FBI, and state and local law enforcement abusing their authority under immigration laws.

Profiling is not only a violation of civil rights, but it is also an ineffective means of law enforcement as it diverts limited government resources and diminishes trust between police and local communities.

As a result, the Sikh Coalition and UNITED SIKHS have joined in collaboration with South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) and other South Asian community based organizations in New York City to identify and document patterns of racial and religious profiling in our communities.  We will use the information received in this quick survey to work with elected leaders, policy makers and agencies to stop discrimination against our communities.

We need you to take 3-4 minutes to answer the following survey questions:

Your responses will be completely confidential and kept anonymous. Should you have any questions about the survey, please contact Tejpreet Kaur at tejpreet@sikhcoalition.org.

Thank you for your participation.
