Coalition Hosts 3 Day Training Course for Washington DC Metro Area Sikhs
The Sikh Coalition has successfully trained over two dozen Sikhs in the tri-state area and fifteen Sikhs in the Bay Area to deliver Sikh Awareness presentations in their local communities. These trained presenters are currently making presentations in schools and at places of business throughout New York, New Jersey and the Bay Area in California.
After a year of intense fundraising by local sangat, the Coalition was excited to bring the Course to the DC Metro Area. From July 9th to 11th, eleven Sikhs participated in a 3 day series of workshops led by the Coalition’s Education Director Manbeena Kaur, Coalition Board Member Rubinpaul Singh, Education intern Ravjot Singh and Fred Polirer, an experienced facilitator in the field of public speaking.

Why Conduct a Sikh Presenter’s Training Course?
The Coalition has conducted countless presentations in schools, agencies and interfaith panels. We have found that the demand for these trainings is growing every year. For this reason, the Coalition created the Course to target a particular geographic region and train Sikh community members in that area on how to deliver Sikh Awareness presentations effectively.
The Coalition has now trained over 50 community members across the country to deliver at least two ‘Sikh Awareness’ presentations every year. The Sikh Presenter’s Course graduates have both the skills and the passion to educate their neighbors on the Sikh faith. This means that, through these presentations, thousands of people across the country will not only understand basic Sikhi concepts, but also have a positive association with Sikhs.
