Incident Report- Waris Singh Ahluwalia
Time : 4:15 am
Four friends and myself walked into Joe's Pizza on Carmine + Bleeker. About a minute after we arrived, a man standing a few feet away from me looked at me and said "You're the perfect target." He smiled as he said this.He was over Caucasian, six feet tall, broad shoulders, dirty blonde/light brown spiked hair. No one really paid any attention to him. With the same expression, he once again said "You're the perfect target." Almost laughing this time. And then he started moving towards me. As I was standing by the door I thought he was going to walk by me and go out the door. He walked by close, smiled and repeated the same thing- "You're the perfect target." Before he got to finish saying it he punched me in the face. I immediately fell back and to the floor. My friend Susan immediately grabbed some napkins and held them to my left eye where I was bleeding. At Seconds after I had been hit, at 4:18 am, I called the police with my cell phone and reported the incident. I just sat there on the floor while I heard all this commotion outside. In the commotion I did hear one male voice ask " Why did you do that? "
A few minutes later the ambulance arrived and I was escorted inside. The EMT took a look at my eye and gave me a gauze bandage to hold over my eye. They then took my contact information. I could hear my friend Jesus outside talking to the cops and dealing with the situation. I was with my friend Naomi inside the ambulance.
I was taken to the ER St. Vincent's Hospital. Eventually a doctor took me into one of the rooms and prepared me for my first stitches ever. My friend Naomi was at my side holding my hand the whole time as he gave me three stitches above my eye and three below. He then took a look at the eye and said he would have to call the ophthalmologist on duty.
At about 9 am I saw the ophthalmologist who after a few tests said that the retina and the pressure of the eye was fine. The was barely able to open and there was blood and other things floating around in the eye that prevented him from doing a thorough exam. He gave me pain killer, drops for the eye and also prescribed bed rest. We scheduled an appointment for the next day, Saturday at the clinic.
Two police officers arrived at the hospital and took my report. I told them exactly what happened. One officer asked if I knew why the guy hit me. I told him it was pretty obvious but he said he needed me to say it. So I told him I must have appeared like the perfect target beause of the turban and beard.
Incident Report- Garrick Williams
I was at Joe's Pizza, on the corner of Bleeker and Carmine. The time was approximately 4 am, on a Friday morning. I was ordering pizza, when a man (man 1) punched my friend Waris. I confronted him at which point he ran outside. I ran after him and he stopped to say "You want one too?." Another man (man 2) came towards me and pulled out a badge, it was a small badge in a wallet with a white card under the badge. I ignored him because the assailant (man 1) was running east on Bleeker. As I went towards the assailant, two men standing by a silver car (possibly a BMW 5 Series) told me they were cops and had radioed for back up. One of them (man 3) showed me a badge that was larger in size and also in a black leather wallet. The assailant (man 1) was still running and they were just standing there. I continued running, crossing 6th Ave, it was then that I called 911. When I got to MacDougal St, the silver car that was parked outside the pizza place drove past, stopped at Sullivan St and the assailant (man 1) got in. They drove down Bleeker and turned right on Thompson St. I was not able to see a license plate number. I was still on the phone with 911- they had put me through to Internal Affairs and when I got back the police were already there.
Man 1- 6' 3'', male, white, bulky build, in gray tight shirt, black slacks
Man 2- 5' 8", male, white, bulky build, in Blue tight shirt, black slacks
Man 3- 5' 10", male, tanned white, bulky build, black tight shirt, and gray slacks
Man 4- was in car- did not get good description (driver) but he also showed a smaller badge- same as Man 2
