Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
This weekend, many of us spent time sitting around the dinner table with our loved ones. We shared stories from the past year. While 2010 was marked by some hate-filled acts against Sikhs and Sikhi, there was also great progress in transforming the national landscape. In Texas and New Jersey, millions of public school students will be learning about Sikhs over the coming years. The United States Army is slowly beginning to accept Sikhs into its ranks. Yet challenges remain. Too many people don’t know enough about our great faith. The Coalition therefore continues to prioritize educating non-Sikhs about Sikhi in order to end hate against Sikhs. Not only is using education to combat discrimination an organizational focus, but a personal commitment as well. In the last nine months Coalition staff have welcomed five new Sikh Americans into the Panth. Help us ensure the next generation carries the Sikh flag high. Today, the Sikh Coalition needs you to contribute. Help us ensure the next generation is more educated and protected. www.SikhDonate.org A selection of the Coalition’s 2010 campaigns:
- Distributed 19,000 brochures about the basics of Sikhs and Sikh history.
- Pushed to include Sikhi in Texas and New Jersey school curricula educating another 6 million students
- Empowered community to give well-researched workshops through the Sikh Presenters Course
What you give today determines what they will experience tomorrow. Let’s face it. We all need to do more. www.SikhDonate.org
