September 8, 2017 (Nashville, TN) – This week, the Sikh Coalition is excited to launch our latest resource, the first-ever comprehensive guidebook for journalists looking to report on Sikhism.

The project comes out of a partnership between the Sikh Coalition and the Religion News Foundation. The book, entitled “Sikhism: A Reporter’s Guide,” now joins guides on Christianity, Islam and Judaism as the latest resource in the Religion News Foundation’s series covering religion.

The hard copy book is being launched at the Religion News Association’s annual conference in Nashville, Tennessee this weekend, which is the premier gathering of religion media professionals.

“We all know that the media has to do a better job of covering Sikhism and the Sikh community,” said primary author and Sikh Coalition Senior Religion Fellow, Simran Jeet Singh. “We hope that this will help them do so, both by improving the accuracy of coverage and by equipping reporters with a resource that helps them write more about Sikh issues.”

Simran Jeet, who is also a leading Sikh academic and professor of religion, worked closely with several Sikh Coalition colleagues for nearly two years to complete the book before the Religion News Foundation took the product to print.

“Partnering with the Sikh Coalition to provide this expert reporter guide has been outstanding,” said Thomas Gallagher, CEO, Religion News Foundation. “The Sikh Coalition’s expertise and professionalism from start to finish ensures this product will be a valuable resource for religion reporting in the years to come.”

If you would like to inquire about purchasing the hard copy book, please contact communications@sikhcoalition.org. The free electronic version of the resource will be available later on this year.

As always, the Sikh Coalition urges you to practice your faith fearlessly.
