December 6, 2017 (New York, NY) – From its inception, the Sikh Coalition has endeavored to build an organization that exceeds the highest standards of trust and professionalism. 16 years later, our institution is recognized for its impact and how it undertakes its work.
The challenges we now face together require more resources and support than ever before and the way we build the organization will determine if it is an institution that can last for generations.
This year we have achieved two new milestones in that journey.
Trust – Reviewed by Charity Navigator
Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities, has placed the Sikh Coalition on their highest tier of reviewed organizations. To our knowledge, this is the first time a Sikh organization has ever been given this distinction.
Results – Recognized By Leading Foundations
The Sikh Coalition continues to receive competitive grants from leading private foundations, including the Ford Foundation, Open Society Foundations, Proteus Fund and New York Community Trust. This year the Sikh Coalition is proud to announce that we have also received a multi-year operational grant from the NoVo Foundation. The NoVo Foundation was created in 2006 by Jennifer and Peter Buffett.
Support from leading foundations reflects the Sikh Coalition’s impact on the Sikh community and broader pursuit of civil rights in America. Yet our organization’s financial future still depends on the community’s support. The trust you have in the Sikh Coalition is reinforced by the foundations that support the work and our impeccable non profit ratings.
