May 22, 2020 (New York, NY) — As states continue to evaluate different stages of reopening public life, the Sikh Coalition invites you to join us for a critical online webinar regarding gurdwara public health and safety in the new COVID-19 world.

WHEN: Saturday, May 30 from 4:00 to 5:30 PM EDT (1:00 to 2:30 PM PDT). RSVP is mandatory. If you want to join, please fill out the RSVP form to receive an email linking you to the webinar.

The webinar will feature leading Sikh medical professionals who have been working on the frontlines in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and gurdwara community leaders from states hit hardest during this public health crisis.

The focus of the webinar will be on public health recommendations and guidelines for gurdwaras as we work to meet the needs of our sangat during a time of unprecedented challenges.

“We hope that you, along with leadership from your gurdwara, will join us for this important discussion regarding public health and safety for our gurdwaras and sangats,” said Sikh Coalition Executive Director, Satjeet Kaur. “We think it is really important to open up space for this critical conversation with the goal of sharing guidance and ideas that might work for gurdwaras across the country.”

RSVP is mandatory. If you want to join, please fill out the RSVP form to receive an email linking you to the webinar.

In the interim, if you are responsible for gurdwara programming, please continue to take every measure to reduce sangat size at any given time at gurdwara, including by suspending divaans and postponing all large events (celebrations and nagar keertans) where crowds may gather. Consider online programming so local sangats can continue to engage. For more specific details on CDC guidelines, click here

This time of ongoing upheaval and crisis is difficult, but it requires us to make the best choices for the health and safety of all. Together, we will continue to adapt as we look forward to a time when things will once again feel more normal.
