June 29, 2020 (New York, NY) – As states continue to reopen in the midst of COVID-19 and employees continue to return to work, the Sikh Coalition wants to ensure that Sikh taxi, rideshare, and truck drivers are aware of the updated recommended health and sanitation guidelines.

These guidelines come from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC), North American Sikh Medical and Dental Association (NASMDA), and American Trucking Associations (ATA).

As more Sikhs continue to join the U.S. trucking sector, we want to ensure that you know your rights in the industry. This Trucker Know Your Rights document features critical information in English and Punjabi.

Though the Sikh Coalition is not a public health organization, we recognize that we must all support each other during this time. Since March, we have been sharing updated resources, in English and Punjabi, pertaining to COVID-19 healthcare, financial aid services, immigration and travel guidance. Additionally, the Sikh Coalition has been working with NASMDA to create Sikh-specific guidance for medical professionals and gurdwaras.  For more information on the Sikh Coalition’s growing library of COVID-19 resources,  please visit this page.

As always, the Sikh Coalition urges you to practice your faith fearlessly.
