[VIDEO] Hear from GOTV Sevadaars about Voting in 2020!

July 29, 2020 (New York, New York) –The United States is now less than 100 days away from our elections on November 3, 2020. Have you used our free tool to confirm your voter registration and learn about voting procedures in your state yet?

Across the country, sevadaars are preparing to help your sangat register as many people to vote as possible in advance of National Sikh Voter Registration Day on September 20, 2020. Watch the video below to hear from Komalpreet Kaur, in Olathe, Kansas, about why she is excited to register Sikh Americans to vote this year:

The Sikh Coalition is still recruiting voter registration sevadaars and equipping them with resources to make virtual or in-person (state regulations permitting) voter registration drives easy. Please fill out our survey today if you’d like to join this effort!

Up in Detroit, Michigan, Gurbachan Singh and Deep Bella Kaur also offer their perspective on why voting this November is so important:

The Sikh Coalition believes that it is critical for all Americans, regardless of their party affiliation or political preferences, to cast their ballots in November. In addition to casting a vote for president, voters across the country will choose their representatives in Congress, as well as  state- and local-level officials and ballot issues.

In the coming weeks and months, the Sikh Coalition will continue to provide information pertaining to voting and civic engagement–especially as the situation around absentee ballots, provisional ballots, and vote-by-mail continues to change in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. Continue to check our website for new information, and reach out to gotv@sikhcoalition.org if you have questions. We will continue adjusting our organizing plans in both virtual and physical spaces in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and other public health officials.

As always, the Sikh Coalition urges you to practice your faith fearlessly.

Note: The Sikh Coalition is a non-partisan, non-profit organization. All Get Out The Vote (GOTV) work is being done in support of broader Sikh American civic engagement, and not for the benefit of any candidate, elected official, or political party.
