Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
In the past few months, the Sikh Coalition staff has been getting reacquainted and reconnected with sangat members from all over the nation through our end-of-year calls. Aside from giving us the chance to hear feedback and answer questions about our work this year, these conversations are essential to us ending the year strong with the momentum—and the fundraising—we need to sustain our legal, advocacy, community development, education, and media engagement efforts in 2024 and beyond.
This year, we launched an unprecedented survey of Sikh students; next year, we will turn the data from that survey into a meaningful report with actionable policy recommendations and ideas for students, parents, and teachers. This year, we fought for reforms to hate crime, workplace discrimination, and inclusive education policies across the country; next year, we will build on those efforts and open even more new fronts in the push for greater Sikh civil rights. And this year, we responded to community members in need of legal aid and met our sangat where they are in gurdwaras from coast to coast; next year, we will continue to develop, perfect, and share our resources and our expertise with all.
Our work, however, is a fundamentally shared effort: It simply is not possible without support from community members like you who see value in our efforts. Your contribution will allow us to do all of this and more as we protect the right of all individuals to practice their faith fearlessly.
We continue to believe that by conducting our work alongside sangat members like you and many other communities throughout the United States, we can live out our core value of sarbat da bhala—the betterment for all. And in the spirit of chardi kala, the eternal optimism that is at the heart of Sikh philosophy, we remain grateful to have each of you as our partner in all of these efforts.
