Deepali Gill (she/her) joined the Sikh Coalition in May 2024 as a Federal Policy Manager. In this role, she is dedicated to creating more inclusive spaces for the Sikh community, particularly those that have faced discrimination or bias due to their religion and identity, through engagement with members of Congress and a wide range of federal agencies.
Prior to joining the Sikh Coalition, Deepali was a Reproductive Justice State Fellow through If/When/How, working on state policy to advance access to reproductive needs. Her extensive legal experience, gained throughout her duration in law school, further highlights her commitment to public service. She also held multiple leadership roles in student organizations during all three years of law school and contributed to her school’s law journal, writing on topics such as The Crown Act and The 1947 Partition. Deepali holds a J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law and a B.A. in English from California State University, Sacramento.
Deepali strives to create a future where Sikh students feel safe in their classrooms, Sikh individuals are not profiled based on their appearance, and no one experiences hate crimes. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, friends, and pet cat (Ivory). She also enjoys reading, cooking traditional Punjabi meals, and crocheting. Finally, Deepali is a Californian and a central valley native who cherishes her community deeply.
