As Senior Manager of Media and Communications, Jagmeet Singh develops, manages and executes critical components of the Sikh Coalition’s communications strategy. In this role, he supports all program areas, expanding the growing footprint of the organization’s work.

Jagmeet leverages traditional and social media to educate the broader public about the Sikh community and advance civil rights. In concert with colleagues, he manages the organization’s growing social media platforms, creates multimedia content, builds reporter relationships, develops communication collateral and manages staff and projects through execution. Over the last two years, Jagmeet has successfully facilitated and secured hundreds of news stories on behalf of the Sikh community, including multiple hits on CNN, the Associated Press, the Wall Street Journal, NPR affiliates and the New York Times.

Prior to joining the Sikh Coalition, Jagmeet worked as a visual journalist, writer and radio journalist, freelancing for NPR and CBS affiliates. He has reported on a variety of topics, from the brain science of fear to economic disparities in North Carolina. His documentary video work has garnered accolades from South by Southwest and The Webby Awards.

Born and raised in small-town North Carolina, Jagmeet earned his Master’s degree from the UNC School of Media and Journalism. Prior to this, Jagmeet taught children, served in the Americorps program, and studied philosophy and physics.
